Alliance for Police Accountability (APA) Issues Open Invite to Met Commissioner Candidate's Nick Ephgrave and Mark Rowley To Meet London's Black Communities. .

As the founding Chair of the newly formed and yet to be launched Alliance for Police Accountability (APA), we wrote to the Home Secretary, pointing out the need for community oversight and involvement with the Met Commissioner recruitment process.

We pointed out that Black and Asian women and the Lesbian and Gay communities - which constitute the majority of Londoners, have no public trust or confidence in the Metropolitan Police Service. Many communities lived experiences and perceptions are that they are just another systemic institutional brick in Britain's hostile environment.

We told the Home Secretary that with Londoners confidence at all-time catastrophically and unprecedented low levels, it was vital that the community has some involvement in the process.

She refused, and in response, I wrote this article exclusively for the Voice.  You can read The APA press release below.
